Editorial Committee
The JoULAB Editorial Committee is responsible for the production and publication of the Journal of the Undergraduate Linguistics Association of Britain (JoULAB). It consists of a day-to-day operations team (consisting of the Editor, the Head of the Board of Reviewers, the Associate Editors, and the Secretary), a copyediting team (consisting of a Copyeditor and several Associate Copyeditors), and the Board of Reviewers.

Tamsin (she/her) is a third-year undergraduate studying Linguistics and English Language in Edinburgh. Her main interests lie within the fields of dialectology and sociolinguistics. Non-linguistically, she loves to talk about pop music with a real severity, as well as endlessly scroll Substack for works such as ‘Best Simpsons character outfits’, ‘Ranking every Doctor Who Christmas special’. She can often be found walking, running, and even occasionally standing still. -

Dain (she/her) is a second year Psychology and Linguistics student at the University of Oxford. Her main interests are in phonetics, phonology and psycholinguistics. Specifically, she is currently reading into the role of executive functions in syntactic and pragmatic parsing. Outside of linguistics, she plays guitar, arranges songs and likes solving sudoku puzzles. -
Nayantara Balagopal Chandrasekhar, Associate Editor (Production)

Nayantara (she/her) is an undergraduate student at Emory University studying Linguistics and International Studies. She's particularly interested in discourse analysis, language prejudice, and the philosophy of language. When not going down linguistic rabbit holes and doing obscure research, she can be found dancing in her bedroom, lying in the sun with a good book, or buying matcha. Quite a lot of matcha. -
Jack Tudor, Secretary

Jack (he/him) is a second year English Language and Linguistics student at the University of Leeds. His interests in linguistics follow primarily neurolinguistics and computational linguistics, particularly with DS-BCIs (Direct-Speech Brain-Computer Interfaces). Aside from academia, he is a choral singer, rock climber, and loves a good kebab (maybe too much). -
Rachel Emily Oliver, Copyeditor
University of Aberdeen
Rachel (she/her) is finishing up her last year at the University of Aberdeen studying English with Creative Writing. Her interests are mainly in apocalyptic literature and science fiction, may that be analysing the media or writing her own. Alongside this, she is a Deputy Arts Editor for The Gaudie, as well as Production Assistant and often contributes to writing for the paper. When she’s not writing, Rachel can be found in her favourite cafe with an oat milk cappuccino or pspsps-ing the nearest cat. -

Nicky (they/them) is a first-year linguistics undergraduate at University College London. Their main interests include phonology, linguistic typology, historical linguistics, and palaeography. Outside of their studies, they enjoy indie music, traditional Chinese painting and calligraphy, constructed languages, and internet art. -

Outside of university, in theory my hobbies are reading, creative writing, crocheting, and astrology, but in practice I blink and it's already bed time. -
Leo Wong, Associate Copyeditor

Leo (he/him) is a first-year MA(Hons) psychology student at the University of Glasgow. His current interest lies in rhythmic synchronization, aphasia, and visuospatial attention, with aspirations in computational psychiatry. He also appreciates Lacanian Psychoanalysis acknowledging reflexively its medium of significations. Aside from his studies, he enjoys learning languages, pure mathematics, and spending time with people. -
Libbie Edwards, Graphic Designer

Libbie (she/her) is a first-year undergraduate student, studying English Language and Linguistics at the University of Sheffield. Some of her favourite areas of linguistics are syntax, child language acquisition and dialectal variation (especially isoglosses). Outside of her studies, Libbie's interests include rock music and Lego. She is typically found attempting to achieve a five star island on Animal Crossing or deleting ladders from pools in The Sims.
